Bodybuilding icon Mandy Blank found dead at her Los Angeles residence, autopsy planned

Fitness legend Mandy Blank was found dead this week of unknown causes at her Los Angeles residence, officials confirmed Wednesday.

The icon previously crowned World Champion by the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness was 42 years old.

The Los Angeles County Coroner said Blank was found unresponsive in the bathroom of her residence on Monday.

An autopsy and toxicology screening were scheduled to determine cause of death.

Asked if any foul play was suspected, a source told the Daily News, “not at this time.”

“I’m absolutely shocked, for sure,” fellow fitness personality Annette Milbers told the Daily News. “We messaged last week. She always made other people feel great, and she had reached out to me because I competed. She said how proud she was.”

Milbers said she knew Blank for more than 15 years and often roomed with her at conventions and magazine signings.

“She was such a passionate, kind person. Her purpose was always to express love through body movement,” Milbers said. “She was a very unpretentious person, which can be rare in our industry. She was all about connecting with people on whatever level they were on.”

Unidentified sources told TMZ.com that Blank was found in her bathtub by a housekeeper with no drugs or alcohol at the scene.

Blank often appeared in fitness magazine and graced the covers of Oxygen and MuscleMag.

According to her website, Blank helped train celebrities including Alex Rodriguez, Mickey Rourke, Michelle Monaghan, Jordana Brewster, Rohan Marley and Natasha Leone.
